ALYKES & ALYKANAS beaches on ZAKYNTHOS

Holidays to Alykes & Alykanas Zakynthos: The area of Alykes Zante (or Alikes) is located 18 kilometres north-west of the capital of Zakynthos and took its name from the salt-pits (alykes in Greek) hidden behind the village of Alykes. Those salt-pits used to be the main source of income and wealth of the islanders. A beautiful sandy beach can be found in Alykes, attracting many visitors for its amazing sand and crystalline waters.
The main road passing through the settlement is boarded by a lot of restaurants, bars and tourist shops.
 

Numerous accommodations are available in the area. The coastal settlement of Alykanas is to be found a couple of kilometres from Alykes and is less popular (and less crowded) than Alykes.

It offers a beautiful sandy beach which is the continuation of Zante Alykes Beach and also has crystal-clear waters. The whole area has many archaeological sites of great importance and interest for one to visit.
