KIMISI (PANAGIA KOIMISIS) beach in LIPSI
Panagia tis Koimisis is a pretty tiny beach is located in the southern coast of Lispi island, apx at 1,5-2 hrs walk from the town. It is an isolated, not organised peebly and can be also reached by motorbike. There are no facilities near by, nor any trees for shade.
The place has a picturesque chapel (16th century, open to visitors) dedicated to Virgin Mary and this is where it gets its name from. Once it was the home of an octogenarian hermit.
There are two ways to go to this beach. Along a bulldozed road, past the rubbish dump, there is a narrow track on the ridge road marked with red spots.
The other option is to pass the Stavros and Five Martyrs churches and then use the narrow concrete staircase down to the beach.
