LOUTRAKI port and beach in SKOPELOS
The beach of Loutraki is long and sandy, located near the village of Loutraki, on the north west side of Skopelos. Loutraki is the second port of the island serving the neighbouring town of Glossa. It offers connections by ferry boats and Flying Dolphins to the port of Volos (Mount Pelion) and Agios Konstantinos in Fthiotida.
Fishing boats and yachts dock in its small harbour. This quiet traditional harbour of small winding streets has some good restaurants from which you may enjoy the nice sunset.
Loutraki is 28km from Skopelos Town and 6km from Glossa. Close to Loutraki are the small islands of "Strogilo", "Dasia", "Paximade" and "Glaronisi". These four islands play an important role for Loutraki as they act like a natural barrier, protecting the port from bad weather and storms. A little over 300 meters to the west are the interesting ruins of the ancient city of "Selinounda" and parts of a wall from the castle that was located here in the 4th century. There are also Roman Baths that were discovered here, as well as a natural water spring, that supplies Loutraki with its water.
It is a nice part of Skopelos, and the charming scenery and landscapes make it a place in which one can easily relax, and enjoy the environment.
