MARMARA beach in KARYSTOS (SOUTH EVIA)
Starting from Karystos we head east and go through Aetos village. At the end of the village, approximately 2.8 km from Karystos we go over a little bridge and turn right. We drive past the taverna "To Rema" and the grounds of "Mammas Bungalows". After that the road becomes a dirt track and 200 m further it ends at the beach.
The beach faces south and is approximately 200m long. It is enclosed on the west by high rocky outcrops and on the east by a seasonal stream. All along the north side of the beach there is a double line of tamarisk trees, which offer thick natural shade.
The beach also has permanent straw umbrellas. It is sandy, though in parts we find pebbles and larger round marble shingles. The water is shallow and calm, suitable for families.
The east part of the seabed is sandy while the west part is pebbly and gradually becomes rocky, which makes it suitable for snorkelling and amateur fishing.
The rocky outcrops on the east part of the beach form a separate little beach sheltered from the north wind.
It is a beautiful quiet beach, quite close to Karystos, with lovely colours.
