Megali Ammos is a medium size beach with nice water located on the northwestern coast of Alonissos. Its name means "Big Sand" in Greek but it is not big nor sandy. However it is propably the most interesting beach on this coast, which is usually vulnerable to north and northwestern winds (quite often in the summer). The beach has a small protection since it is located in a cove and therefore it is usually calmer than other northen areas. The whole area is wilder than the south part and less crowded.
