VELANIO beach in SKOPELOS
it is located in the northeastern coast of the island, not very well protected as an anchorage. You can get there by bus, getting off at the stop Stafilos and walking down the hill. There is a taverna at the bottom of the hill with smashing views. Another taverna is Babi's taverna at the top of the hill opposite the bus stop. Perfect place after the gruelling climb up from Stafilos.
There is a rocky outcrop about a third of the way along Velanio. A new beach bar, at the bottom of the steps is now open. Further along the beach is another small rocky area after which the beach bends around to the left. Here it is wild and beautiful and if you walk far enough you will find a natural springs from the cliff.
The beach faces south-east, so the sun goes over the cliff and shadow builds from about 5pm onwards, depending on the time of year.
There are umbrellas and chaises-longues in the nude section of the beach.
