PERDIKA village, beach & little port in AEGINA Featured
We highly recommend it for boaters and we rate it with 3 stars because it is a very picturesque fishing village with the basic facilities for boaters and it is very close to Athens. The beach is not so nice and propably not very clean sicne it is located near the small marina and the restaurants.
However it has a cute rocky place for swimming with nice transparent waters. In any case we believe that it is the best place to moor in Aegina because it is traditional, it has excellent choices for eating and drinking with perfect sea view and it has nice strolls.
Furthermore it is near Moni island (easily reached by tender in 3-4 minutes) which has very nice scenery and blue waters (see separate listing for Moni). Aeginitissa bay beach is also near and is another choice for swimming if you prefer organised beaches.
Unfortunatelly the small port has only few places to moor for larger boats. It is quite hard to fing a place to moor in weekends (Friday and Sunday afternoon) since most Athenian boaters go there even for daily cruises. However you may anchor near the port and reach the village by the tender. In Perdika you may meet well-known Athenians like business men, celebrities etc (mainly in weekends), that prefer it beacuse it's tavernas have good food and usually fresh fish.
From Aegina city begins the onshore road that leads south, towards the cove of Marathona.
Three kilometers after the cove of Marathona, the road ends to the traditional fishing village of Perdika, which it is only 9 kilometers from the port of Aegina.

Perdika is an old traditional settlement, built around the port. In the old times its townfolks were occupied exclusively with fishing.
Main characteristic of the settlement of Perdika is the small houses with their yards to connect with each other.

The one side of Perdika is cobbled-paved, above the sea.
To the pedestrian precinct there are tavernas famous for their fresh fish, ouzeri, bar and coffee shops.
The pedestrian precinct continues with benches between trees, where anyone can admire the sunset, watching the sun vanishing in to the sea.
