The 88.5-metre Oceanco Y715, recently christened Barbara, left Holland and stopped off in Falmouth for 3 hours on Friday to undergo customs formalities. She is on her way to La Ciotat for a brief period before she will be finally handed over to her owners.

The 88.5-metre superyacht is designed both inside and out by Sam Sorgiovanni, who implemented the sweeping curves he is known for into her superstructure. With plenty of visible DNA of two other Oceanco / Sam Sorgiovanni collaborations, Nirvana and Anastasia, the yacht’s striking double-height curved window-design is stand-out feature of her exterior lines. Forward, three elliptical windows of decreasing sizes give the boat a forward-looking motion, which culminates in a sleek bow form.

Gone are the previous flashes of polished teak, and instead her dark blue hull is complemented by a large teak panel on her stern.

Arriving into Falmouth the yacht was the centre of attention, with the quaint backdrop of the Cornish town providing a contrast to the yacht’s radical design.
