The 50-metre Project Maia features exterior styling from Clifford Denn and interior design from Reymond Langton, bringing together the same team that created Ann G two years ago. The aluminium
over steel yacht is currently in the outfitting stage at the Dutch yard.
“Curvy flowing forms and sharp knuckle lines create a widely appealing style that have an affinity with classic and contemporary iconic cars such as that have stood the test of time. Exquisite details such as the ‘Fisker whiskers’ of the aft fashion plates and navigation lights are car styling details which provide practical design solutions, as well as being jewel like objects in their own right,” says Clifford Denn.
Careful attention has been paid to creating a harmony between the interior and exterior spaces, with the use of large windows and flowing spaces.
“The design intent was to create a yacht which could serve as a comfortable and elegant private yacht as well as accommodate charter guests if desired,” say the team at Reymond Langton. “The result is a sleek, clean and thoroughly modern design weaved together with restraint and subtlety. The interior architecture is a warm and inviting setting of contrast between light, bleached oak, stained walnut, with clean, simple lines combined with a subtle graphic motif that runs throughout the yacht, and texture created with softly faceted surfaces and textured metal. The design is softened by pale taupe leather and fabrics, with colour highlights introduced in artwork feature panels, feature fabrics and furnishings. The main-deck owner’s suite has a private office that leads to the generous full beam bedroom. A relaxed, calm atmosphere is a result of the bright finishes and plenty of natural light from the large windows offering panoramic views. The bridge deck sky lounge is an area dedicated to relaxation, with large windows combined with full height glass doors opening to the exterior, allowing natural light to enter during the day, but the stained walnut architecture and soft lighting to create a more intimate, calm atmosphere once the sun sets.”
The sundeck alone has more than 68 square metres of space for guests to relax in, and stowing the tenders forward has allowed for a large beach club aft, as well as a bar, sauna and sound system. Accommodation is for 10 guests across five suites: a full-beam master on the main deck and three doubles and a twin on the lower deck.
Powered by 1,000kW twin MTUs, the yacht will have a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 3,800 nautical miles at 12 knots. At 10 knots, a very fuel economic 95 litres per hour is expected. Project Maia is for sale and available for delivery in spring 2018.
