KALI KYRA (PERA KATSOULI) beach in EVIA
Kali Kyra or Pera Katsouli beach is sandy with calm shallow waters, ideal for families. It is situated close to Katsouli beach (see separate listing) on the northwest coast of the Karystos bay, at about 5 km from the town centre through the main coastal road heading west. It faces southeast and it is approximately 130 m long.
All along the beach there is a row of tamarisk trees which offer thick shade and separate the beach from the main road. At its southernmost tip the beach has no shade, except for a large wild-olive tree.
For the first few metres the seabed is rocky, but there are 1-2 sandy "couloirs" that allow the bathers to enter the water. About 4-5 meters off the shore the seabed becomes sandy. It offers a great variety of shell-fish and is suitable for snorkelling and amateur fishing.
The beach got its name from the small islet of "Kali Kira" which is found just off the coast.
It is easily accessible through the asphalted coastal road all the way from Karystos to the southwest tip of the bay.
