AGNI BAY beach in KERKYRA
A small picturesque bay with pine and olive trees. It is excellent for eating at the three very good tavernas. Kerkyras' "hot spot" for boaters! We rate it with 3 stars mainly for the landscape and not for the beach itself. We would not recommend it if you ony want to swim.
Located at the bottom of a very steep and twisting lane from the main coast road north east. It has pebbles with the odd patch of sand with three tavernas that open in the summer with views across to Albania. Jetties have been built to accommodate the boats that pull in here.
Shelves deeply into the sea and there are some sharp underwater rocks making it unsuitable for children and, apart from the tavernas which offer free sunbeds for customers, there are no facilities. It's a beautiful and peaceful setting though and a step back in time for those seeking to relax.
Safe for children: Agni beach is probably visited by more yachts than cars and boat traffic makes swimming a little hazardous. Watersports: No-There is boat hire and a diving school, however.
Mooring for boats: Every boat in Kerkyra ems to make its way here. Thus, while it's possible to moor, you may find it crowded in high season.
Next to quayside/harbour: Pleasure craft by the dozen visit Agni. However, they seem to do little damage to the local environment. .
Natural shady areas: Agni beach located at the base of the cliffs is a reasonable amount of tree cover.
Distance to main resorts: 30km from Kerkyra town.
Public transport: Buses will take you as far as the main road. Independent transport is probably preferable. Blue Flag: No.
